RAPID (Rural Areas Property Directory) uses the relevant 'Map Grid Reference Number' for each rural property. This Grid Number, or RAPID number as it know, is then placed on the relevant property, much like a street number. The RAPID number, which unique for each property, indicates the longitudinal and latitudinal location of the property with a 6 digit grid reference number, pinpointing the property within a hundred square kilometres, down to the nearest 100 metres.

Extra RAPID plates - $10.00 each
Extra RAPID phone tags - $4.00 each

What are the benefits of RAPID ?

When either the Ambulance, Fire Service, SES or the Police need to be called to a property in a rural area, providing a RAPID number will help pinpoint and identify the property, thereby assisting to avoid any unnecessary delays in finding and responding to the location.

It is also not uncommon for persons traveling on the road to report accidents or other incidents with a mobile phone. However, it is often difficult to tell the emergency services of your exact location in such a situation. RAPID plates located at property entrances, can provide a reference point to your location.

As the RAPID database operated by the emergency services also contains other information, such as the occupiers name and telephone number, the emergency service agencies are also able determine which properties may need to be contacted in an evacuation or similar major situation.

How do I report an emergency ?

The following is a guide which can be used when reporting an emergency:
