Gold Service Award
John Rose of the Hindmarsh Valley Brigade at a special meeting of the Brigade on the 14th of December 2000, was awarded a 'Gold Long Service Award' by Regional Commander, Mark Thomason, in recognition of over 50 years of service within the local Country Fire Service. John recalled to the meeting and others some of his own fire experiences, including driving a motor bike as a runner in the earlier days and later serving through piloting his plane during various local fires and other emergencies. 17 July 2000 - Kaye in the Olympic Torch Run
Kaye Bowey (nee Wicker), daughter of Len and Laurel Wicker and an active CFS member for the Waitpinga Brigade, took her place at Tintinara on Monday 17th July 2000, as an Olympic Torch Bearer.

 

Tribute to Past Member
On the 28th May 2000, long term member of the Waitpinga CFS Brigade, Mr. Len Wicker aged 73, passed away. Mr. Wicker is recognised for his dedication to his family and the CFS. Pictured below is Mr. Wicker (on the left) receiving his National Service Medal from the SA CFS Manager of Operations Tony Wiedeman in January of 1998. Mr. Wicker's children and grandchildren are now carrying on the CFS tradition.
